AEK Athens play host to Marseille on Thursday night (20:00) in a top-of-the-table clash in Group E of the Europa League.
The French outfit overtook their rivals at the top of the section with a 3-1 win at the Orange Velodrome in October, but just one point separates the sides coming into this clash.
Team News
Cican Stankovic will watch this game from the stands as he serves a one-game suspension for Athens for his red card on matchday three.
Ehsan Hajsaf will also be absent for the hosts as he continues to recover from a thigh injury.
As for the visitors, Azzedine Ounahi is the only significant injury concern at this moment in time.
Match Odds
There isn’t a lot to split the teams with AEK Athens 6/4 to win the game, while Marseille are 7/4 and the draw is 12/5.
A repeat of Marseille’s 3-1 victory last month is 18/1, while over 2.5 goals can be backed at 4/6.
Draw @ 12/5
As mentioned, there isn’t a great deal to split the sides coming into this game, as just one point separates them in the group.
Marseille have only lost one of their last five outings, while AEK’s only taste of defeat in their last five was the defeat at the Stade Velodrome last month.
Both sides are capable of scoring goals, and have conceded six goals each so far in the group stages, so I believe a draw is the most likely outcome here, with both teams cancelling each other out.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score anytime @ 7/4
The former Chelsea man is Marseille’s top scorer so far this term with five goals across all competitions.
He’s scored two in three appearances in the Europa League, as well as two in Marseille’s Champions League qualifying campaign, so he’s no stranger to netting on the European stage.
AEK Athens are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Europa League, so I think the 34-year-old will get chances to add to his goal tally on Thursday night.
