Bath’s seven-race card is one of six meetings on the agenda on Wednesday 23 August, with cards also planned at York, Carlisle, Sligo, Leicester and Kempton.

The going for Wednesday’s card at Bath is expected to be good to soft, barring a late change in the weather, and the first race is due to start at 14:50.

Betfred’s “Extra Place” promotion is available at 15:55, while at 17:35, four places are being paid instead of three, thanks to the “Super Extra Place” offer.

2.50 – Secret Handsheikh @ 4/1

Connections of Secret Handsheikh have been busy this year with John Gallagher’s charge having run eight times already.

Secret Handsheikh began his campaign with a disappointing eighth at Wolverhampton in March, before hitting the winning trail with successes at Brighton in April.

Sadly, he has since failed to kick on, finishing last of seven at Windsor, fifth at Chepstow, eighth at Sandown and eighth at Newbury.

On his last appearance in Bath, Secret Handsheikh finished sixth of nine earlier this month, but Gallagher clearly got something to click most recently as he came home second at Yarmouth.

He looks like one that could now take all the beating as he prepares to run off the same mark, with jockey Luke Catton claiming what looks a very handy 5lb, and that should make all the difference on Wednesday.

3.25 – Salvuccio @ 7/4

We have only seen Salvuccio on the track once, but Wednesday should give connections another opportunity to shed the maiden tag.

George Boughey’s runner finished fifth of 12 at Nottingham earlier this month, but much more is expected from that run.

The son of Dutch Art comes from good stock and will be expected to kick on and get the better of expected challenger Mini Magna in the closing stages.

4.30 – Ciotog @ 9/4

Mark Loughnane’s Ciotog has hit the post twice this month, but connections will fancy their chances having missed out by just a neck on his most recent effort, which came at this course.

The son of Dandy Man has not won since September 2022, a run of nine races, but the recent signs are positive.

Ciotog returned to the track after a 164-day break in May, finishing third at Lingfield before tail-end finishes at both Hamilton and Bath, fifth of five and seventh of eight respectively.

However, he has since found his better form, claiming the runner-up position at Wolverhampton at the start of the month, while he claimed the same slot last week returning to Bath, losing by just a neck to Eye Of The Water.

Last week’s winner has been handed a 4lb penalty for that success and may struggle to confirm the form. Billy Loughnane’s jockey booking will remove 3lbs from Ciotog’s saddle, and that should help secure a successful revenge mission this time around.
