Lucky grandad Brian Brown has won £8,611 from an amazing £5 wager at Betfred.
Brian, a 51-year-old fabricator from Newcastle, took just two minutes to fill in his football coupon.
He opted for both teams to score and selected the winner of six games – including Wrexham at home to Salford, which looked in doubt when the Welsh side were 2-0 down after 36 minutes.
In fact, after seeing that result e was so sure his six-fold acca was going to flop that he didn’t even bother checking the other results.
It was only the next morning when he realised Wrexham scored three, including two very late on, to win, Stockport won at Harrogate with both sides on the scoresheet – and he was spot on with his predictions for the Greenock Morton-Ketly Hearts and Raith Rovers-Montrose games in Scotland.
Brian also went for Hungary to beat Serbia and BTTS in their Euro 2024 qualifier and that Germany would concede to but ultimately overcome USA in an international friendly.
He said: “I nearly passed out the next morning when I checked the results. It must have taken me no longer than two minutes to make those picks.
“With Salford winning 2-0 at Wrexham after just over half-an-hour played, I thought ‘forget it’ and didn’t bother checking the results immediately.
“With the winnings, we’re going on a family holiday to Tenerife – and no doubt we’ll be decorating the house which my wife is always going on about.
“I sent her a screenshot of my win and, like me, she just couldn’t believe it. It’s definitely the biggest win I’ve ever had.”
Betfred boss Fred Done said:
“Brian has done remarkably well with this increasingly-popular bet and it’s good to see he already has plans in place to spend his windfall.”
