Crystal Palace host Wolves on Sunday afternoon, with the Eagles aiming for their second Premier League win of the season.

Jean-Philippe Mateta to score

With some tricky early games, Palace have limited Mateta’s minutes early on. Roy Hodgson should look to the forward on Sunday, fresh from his EFL Cup hat-trick heroics in midweek.

The Frenchman showed his quality against Plymouth Argyle and that should earn him a starting spot. Mateta meets a Wolves side who have had an Expected Goals Against tally on at least 1.9 in each of their first three league games this term, so Mateta should get opportunities to add to his midweek treble.

Sasa Kalajdzic to score

Another forward who should have forced his way into the starting 11 is Wolves’ Kalajdzic. The striker was signed over a year ago in an attempt to fix their issues in attack, but a serious injury ruled him out for most of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Austrian is making up for lost time, as he made an instant impact in a five-minute cameo off the bench against Everton last weekend. He struck a late winner for Wolves, before getting a goal against Blackpool after playing for over an hour in that cup clash.

It’s hard for a side like Wolves to ignore a striker in form so expect Kalajdzic to force his way into the side. With Crystal Palace managing just two clean sheets across their last nine Premier League matches, the visitors should be confident of getting on the scoresheet. As it stands, Kalajdzic looks like their best bet when it comes to causing the Eagles’ problems.

Craig Dawson to be carded

With 10 bookings and a red card already this term, Wolves are among the most ill-disciplined sides in the league. They have plenty of contenders who could find themselves in card trouble in this one, but Craig Dawson in particular stands out.

The centre-half has been booked in his last two games and he averages 1.7 fouls per game. He’s set to start on the right-hand side of the Wolves backline, which is an area that the hosts could target.

It’s easy to see Dawson struggling with the pace of Mateta, Odsonne Edouard or Eberechi Eze, so the Eagles could cause plenty of problems for Wolves in that area of the pitch.
