One of the most fascinating football divisions in the world returns this weekend. We’ve put together a tasty League Two treble for you to consider for Saturday afternoon.
Stockport County to beat Swindon @ 13/10
This one is quite simple to start off with. Stockport County have proven themselves to be the best team in League Two so far this season and they are my favourites to go on and win the title, having lost in the play-offs on penalties last term. Dave Challinor’s side have embarked on a cracking run of form, which has seen them win 11 matches in a row, and it shows no sign of stopping here.
A serious injury to Louie Barry is a big negative for the Hatters, but they have more than enough to get past a Swindon outfit who sit 22nd in the recent form table, and have lost their last two.
Wrexham to beat Gillingham @ 7/10
Gills have just appointed Stephen Clemence so he will be in the dugout for his first game in charge here – and they don’t come much tougher than a trip to the Racecourse. Wrexham were hammered 5-0 by Stockport at the end of September, but since then, they’ve gone unbeaten over eight matches, including an impressive 2-0 win at Notts County last time out.
Phil Parkinson’s side are really finding their feet at this level now, and should be challenging for those top three spots. To do so, they need to win almost every home game, starting with this test against Gillingham.
Barrow to beat Bradford @ 13/5
Long odds on this one, but I like the look of Pete Wild’s Barrow outfit this term. They’ve now gone unbeaten in their last six matches, albeit with four draws, but it shows just how competitive they are in this division. The play-offs certainly aren’t out of reach for them, while Bradford are still without a permanent manager following the exit of Mark Hughes.
Organisation can win the day on this one, and given Barrow have now kept four clean sheets on the bounce, I’m backing another top defensive performance to secure all three points at Valley Parade.
