Sheffield United vs Lincoln Prediction, Odds & Betting Tips – 30 August 2023

Championship Accumulator Tips: 15/1 Saturday Fourfold

Sheffield United host League One side Lincoln City in the second round of the Carabao Cup. For the Premier League newbies, this represents a chance to get a much-needed win after three consecutive losses.

Team news

For Paul Heckingbottom, this game represents a chance to get some confidence into his squad after a poor start to the league campaign. It also may see new striker Cameron Archer make his debut after he joined from Aston Villa, while Oli McBurnie’s return to action at the weekend also bolstered their attacking options. Lincoln’s only absentee is Lewis Montsma, who is sidelined with an ACL injury.

Lincoln City double chance

Sheffield United are heavy favourites to win this one given their Premier League status, but what we have here on paper is an out of form side against an in-form outfit. When you consider Heckingbottom is likely to place this competition at the bottom of his priorities, we could see an upset at Bramall Lane.

A draw is a very possible outcome after 90 minutes at 4/1, but backing the Lincoln win or draw double chance at 2/1 seems logical. The Imps have been in flying form in recent weeks, battering Blackpool 3-0 last time out and only losing on the opening day at Bolton.

Since then they’ve won four games out of five, all without conceding a goal, with the other fixture a 2-2 draw at Northampton where they conceded a 98th minute equaliser. This is a very good Lincoln side who should challenge for the top six in League One. That combined with the Blades’ losing run and lack of enthusiasm for this competition gives me reason to back an upset.

Draw in 90 minutes and BTTS Yes

Lincoln are a good League One side as previously stated, but it may seem a stretch for them to go to Bramall Lane and win in 90 minutes, which is why a draw seems good value. United boast the stronger squad by far on paper and are rightly favourites but it remains to be seen who will actually turn out for them.

Although Lincoln have been exceptionally strong at both ends, if the duo of McBurnie and Archer start up front, or play some part in the tie, you can expect the Blades to score. Adding BTTS Yes to the draw gives us a price of 5/1, which is good value.
